4 Reasons You Should Plant A Garden

Spring is such and exciting time of year. The cold days start to warm and new life starts to form. The brown colors of the winter start to transform into bright lively colors. It is the season to plant a garden. Wahoo! Here are four reasons you gotta plant a garden this year.

Challenge Yourself

The thought of a garden can be overwhelming. It is not a small undertaking. There is a lot of work that goes into it. A garden could be compared to a child. It takes constant and continual work. It has to be nurtured and cared for for several months. It is worth it though! I am no expert in the garden department but it has been a fun challenge to undertake. A challenge to see if our plants will survive and bring us our desired result or the saddening result of killing them all (which is very possible) haha. We also decided to try some new plants this year, so that in itself was a new challenge. There are new things I learn each time we plant a garden and I am excited to see what this years will bring us (hopefully food).

Pure Joy

I am like a kid in a candy store when I can pick the first piece of food from our garden. I get so giddy and want to shout with excitement! We are still a long ways from that but the thought of it gets me SO excited! I guess it gives me a sense of accomplishment and pride. I love being able to walk into my back yard and see yummy, delicious food growing. Gardens usually start out pretty small and bare but I love to watch that emptiness turn into growth and beauty. It is so fascinating to me. I love it!!

Fresh Food

This is an obvious one. Fresh food is AMAZING! They quality of the food is so much better than anything you can find in a grocery store. There is nothing quite like a fresh, big red, and juicy tomato. SO DELICIOUS! The thought of it makes my mouth water. It is also so nice to be able to just walk out your door to get your food instead of having to drive to the store. So wonderful!

Family Activity

Involve the whole family. We all went to the store together and decided what we each wanted to plant. Adam choose the good stuff, watermelon and cantaloupe. These are new to us, so we will see how it goes. Adam did all the though manly stuff for me like tilling dirt and getting it ready for planting. I was the planner and organizer. I planned where everything went and planted the plants and seeds. It was so fun to have our little one involved too. It was fun to watch her explore and play with bugs and get wet and dirty.

A garden truly is wonderful (if it turns out as planned). I challenge you to plant a garden this year! Even if it is a simple small garden. If you keep at it, you’ll feel the joy of success and harvest some yummy produce this year.

P.S. We love the time flexibility of our business so we can work on our garden whenever and spend time as a family when its important. If your ready to learn more come register for a Live Broadcast.
