Backpacking With Kids – Starve Your Fear
What does being afraid mean? The dictionary defines it as feeling fear. The thought of backpacking with kids often times gives people a scare. If this is you, I want you to really think… What are your fears when it comes to backpacking with your kids?
We all have fears of one thing or another. But why do you have that fear? Are you basing your fear, off of other peoples experiences, or are they something that you have imagined? I have heard peoples fears of backpacking with kids before they have even tried it. Fear has also been described as False Events Appearing Real.
Are you imagining some horrible experience that probably isn’t even realistic? Don’t let those fears hold you back. In Grants Cardone’s book, “The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success And Failures“, he says, “Time is what drives fear. The more time you devote to the object of your apprehension, the stronger it becomes. So Starve the fear of its favorite food by removing time from its menu”.
There are some things in life that you just have to do. That thing just happens to be backpacking, but with your kids. 😉 Once you do it, you will be hooked. What ever fears you may have, FACE them! Set a goal to make it happen. In the end you will be glad you did.
Every trip we have gone on has not been a magical experience the whole time. But we embrace them and accept the challenges and work through them. As we do we have come to learn and love our adventures with our kids. So don’t be afraid, take the leap, life is all about learning and growing. Go..Get out…and have some FUN!
